DTO Retreats

The DTO’s current retreat schedule has two silent retreats and one general retreat. The retreats are usually two days in length, with people arriving Friday afternoon and leaving on Sunday afternoon.

The silent retreats generally observe Noble Silence starting Friday evening and ending with a discussion session on Sunday morning. They offer a wonderful opportunity to connect to that deep stillness that is at our center.

The general retreats may have periods of Noble Silence, but on the whole, they have a lot of talking going on. There is a good balance between practice, Dharma sharing, powerful ceremonies, catching up, and being with Sangha.

In the early morning, entering an ancient temple,
When the sunlight first shines on tall trees.
Take the path through bamboo to a hidden place,
Among flowers and trees at a Buddhist Retreat
Where the light on the hill delights every bird and
The pool’s reflection empties the human heart.
All the sounds in the world are stilled,
By the sound of the bell.
